The fourteenth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2021.
“Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world come together on April 2, Autism Awareness Day, to Light It Up Blue in recognition of people with autism and those who love and support them.” ~ https://www.autismspeaks.org/world-autism-awareness-day
Being a mom and being a teacher in the past, I think it is important to participate in this important moment and day. To support parents and kids who need our support in their journey with autism. I think it is not accepted at all and that makes me angry and sad at the same time. I have many examples to show you that this world where we are living in has an ignorance towards autism. That is really a shame! This world needs to take a bow for these families, especially in this circumstances with Covid. I am not speaking only from the heart but also from experience.
A long time ago I read a message on Facebook from a woman. She was complaining about children in a school bus. They didn’t had their masks on. And these kids were autistic. This woman said that it was unbelievable to see them without their masks all together in the school bus. Some supervisors had one. The rest of her words/text, I will not write them down. But until this day I regret that I didn’t respond to that message. Maybe it was a waist of energy. But these people need to Be put in their places. This ignorant people need to keep their mouth shut. So next time I will say something. Be kind to people! Don’t judge people when you don’t understand the situation where they are in.
“Autism is like a rainbow. It has a bright side and a darker side. But every shade is important and beautiful.” — Rosie Tennant Doran
I will leave you with this quote and embrace people with blue today who needs your big hug and support not only today but everyday💙. Just think about it!
